Dermaplaning in Sheffield

Dermaplaning in Sheffield gently removes dead skin and fine, fluffy hair to leave your skin smooth and glowing. It's one of the most satisfying facials there is – your skin looks instantly brighter and make-up glides on beautifully – and at Hudson & Wood we finish it with lovely Eve Taylor products and a relaxing facial massage, at our independent salon on Sharrow Vale Road, S11.

What happens during dermaplaning in Sheffield

Dermaplaning is a gentle, manual exfoliation. Your therapist holds your skin taut and uses a sterile, single-use blade at a careful angle to skim away the very top layer of dull, dead skin cells, along with the fine 'peach fuzz' hair across your face. It doesn't hurt – it feels like a light, stroking motion – and the skin underneath looks smoother, brighter and more even straight away.

Because that layer of dead skin and fluff is gone, your skincare sinks in better and your make-up sits more smoothly. It's a lovely treatment before a special occasion, or as a regular boost for dull skin.

  1. Welcome and skin check. We'll look at your skin and make sure dermaplaning is right for you.
  2. Cleanse. A thorough cleanse to remove make-up and oil, then the skin is dried completely.
  3. Dermaplane. Gentle, precise strokes across the face, avoiding the eyes, lips and any sensitive areas.
  4. Soothe. A calming mask and a relaxing facial massage.
  5. Hydrate and protect. Serum, moisturiser and SPF advice for the days ahead.

Is it right for you?

Dermaplaning is great for dull skin, rough texture, fine facial hair and make-up that never quite sits right. It isn't suitable for active acne or breakouts, rosacea, sunburn, very sensitive or broken skin, or if you're using retinoids or prescription skincare. For congested skin, our Clear & Clarify facial is a better choice, and for deeper exfoliation, try microdermabrasion.

Before and after your visit

Avoid retinoids, acids and facial waxing for a few days before, and stay out of the sun. Afterwards, your skin may be slightly pink for a short while. Keep it simple for 24 hours – gentle cleanser, moisturiser and no heavy make-up – and wear a high SPF every day for at least a week, as your fresh skin will be more sensitive to the sun.

Good to know

Your questions, answered

Will the hair grow back thicker or darker?

+

No – fine facial hair grows back exactly as it was. Dermaplaning doesn't change the hair at all.

Does dermaplaning hurt?

+

Not at all. Most people find it very relaxing – it feels like a gentle stroking motion.

Is there any downtime?

+

None. Your skin may be a little pink for an hour or so. Just wear SPF for the following week.

How often can I have dermaplaning?

+

Every four weeks or so, in line with your skin's natural renewal cycle.

Can I have it if I have acne?

+

Not during active breakouts. Our Clear & Clarify facial is designed for congested and blemish-prone skin.
