Lash lift vs lash extensions: which is right for you?
Written by India Hudson, founder & therapistIf you'd love longer, fuller-looking lashes without the daily mascara routine, you've probably weighed up a lash lift against lash extensions. Both give gorgeous results – but they're very different treatments. Here's how they compare.

What's the difference?
A lash lift curls your own natural lashes upwards from the root, like a perm. Nothing is added – your lashes just look longer and more open. Lash extensions are individual synthetic lashes bonded to each of your natural ones, adding length and volume your lashes don't have on their own.
| Lash lift | Lash extensions | |
|---|---|---|
| Look | Natural, lifted, wide-awake | Fuller, longer, more 'done' |
| Lasts | Around 6–8 weeks | 2–3 weeks between infills |
| Upkeep | None | Regular infills, careful cleansing |
| Appointment | Under an hour | 1.5–2 hours for a full set |
| Mascara | Optional | Not needed (avoid it) |
Choose a lash lift if…
- You want a natural look that still feels like you.
- You don't want to commit to regular infills.
- You'd rather not worry about glue, rubbing your eyes or sleeping on your face.
- You have reasonable natural lash length.
Add a tint and you get the best of both: curl plus colour, so your lashes look longer and darker with no make-up at all. Have a look at our lash lift and tint.
Choose extensions if…
- Your natural lashes are short or sparse.
- You want noticeably more volume.
- You're happy to book regular infills.
Our honest view
For most people who want to look fresh and polished every morning, a lash lift is the easier, lower-maintenance choice – and it keeps your own lashes healthy. As a holistic salon, it's the one we recommend most.
