Is eyebrow threading in Sheffield right for you?

Threading uses a single cotton thread, twisted and rolled across the skin, to lift out whole rows of hair from the root. Because only the thread touches your skin – no wax, no heat – it's a brilliant choice if you have sensitive skin, use retinoids or prescription skincare, or simply prefer to avoid wax around your eyes.

It's also beautifully precise. Your therapist can remove individual fine hairs and create crisp, clean lines, which makes threading ideal for defining an arch, tidying the tail of your brow or keeping on top of strays. Prefer wax? Our eyebrow shaping page explains how that works – same appointment, your choice.

What happens during your threading appointment

  1. Consultation. We'll look at your brows together and agree the shape that suits your face – and whether you'd like threading or wax.
  2. Prepare. Brows brushed and the skin cleansed.
  3. Thread. You'll gently hold your skin taut while your therapist threads away unwanted hair – quickly, row by row.
  4. Perfect. Any last strays tidied and the shape checked from every angle.
  5. Soothe. A calming lotion to settle the skin, and your brows brushed into place.
03

Is it right for you?

Threading suits almost everyone, including men. It's especially good for sensitive skin and for anyone who can't have waxing because of skincare or medication. For fuller-looking brows, add an eyebrow tint, or book our brow shape and tint, which includes a lash tint too.

04

Before and after your visit

Try not to tweeze for a few weeks beforehand so we have more to work with. Afterwards, avoid make-up on the area, touching it, sunbeds and saunas for 24 hours. Any redness usually settles within an hour or so. A tidy-up every three to five weeks keeps the shape crisp.

Why Hudson & Wood

We work with your natural brow line rather than one standard shape, and we never take off more than you want. Our small, independent salon on Sharrow Vale Road is easy to pop into from Ecclesall Road – threading is quick enough for a lunch break.

Good to know

Your questions, answered

Does threading hurt?

+

There's a quick tingly, plucking sensation – a bit like tweezing but much faster. Most people find it very bearable, and it gets easier with regular appointments.

How long does eyebrow threading last?

+

Usually three to five weeks, depending on how quickly your hair grows.

Threading or wax – which should I choose?

+

Threading is gentler on sensitive skin and very precise; waxing is quick and suits most people. Both are available in the same brow shape appointment.

Can I have threading if I use retinoids?

+

Usually, yes – threading is often the best option, as nothing is applied to your skin. Please mention any prescription skincare when you book.

How do I book threading online?

+

Book a Brow Shape and let us know you'd prefer threading.
