Why choose BIAB nails in Sheffield?

BIAB stands for 'Builder In A Bottle'. It's a thicker, flexible gel that's brushed over your own nails to add a protective layer of strength – a bit like a little suit of armour. Unlike acrylics or extensions, nothing is added to lengthen the nail. Your natural nail simply grows underneath, protected, so it can finally get past that point where it always breaks.

It's lovely if you want healthy-looking, natural nails without chips, splits or peeling. Wear it clear for a glossy 'your nails but better' look, in a soft nude, or in any of our colours. And because BIAB is designed to be infilled rather than soaked off every time, your nails get to grow stronger from one appointment to the next.

What happens during your BIAB appointment

  1. Choose your look. Clear, nude or a colour – we'll help you pick.
  2. Prep. Nails are shaped and filed, cuticles gently tidied and the surface lightly buffed so the gel bonds properly.
  3. Build. BIAB is applied in thin layers and shaped to give the nail strength where it needs it most, then cured under the lamp.
  4. Colour. Your chosen shade goes on top (or stay clear and natural).
  5. Finish. A glossy top coat and a little cuticle oil – dry straight away, so there's no waiting around.

Is it right for you?

BIAB is ideal if your nails are weak, thin, peel or break easily, or if you're trying to grow out bitten nails. It's also great if gel polish chips on you quickly. If you'd simply like colour that lasts, our gel polish is thinner and lovely for a quick refresh. If you'd like a full pamper as well, pair BIAB with the soak, scrub and hand massage from our luxury manicure.

Before and after your visit

Come with bare nails if you can. If you're wearing gel or BIAB from another salon, let us know when you book so we can allow time for removal. Afterwards, use cuticle oil every day, wear gloves for cleaning, and try not to use your nails as tools. Book an infill every three to four weeks. Please never peel BIAB off – it takes layers of your natural nail with it. We'll remove it properly for you whenever you'd like a break.

Good to know

Your questions, answered

What's the difference between BIAB and gel polish?

+

BIAB is a thicker, strengthening gel that protects your nails while they grow. Gel polish is thinner and mainly about colour. If your nails break easily, BIAB is the better choice.

How long does BIAB last?

+

Usually three to four weeks before you'll want an infill, depending on how quickly your nails grow.

Is BIAB bad for your nails?

+

No – when it's applied and removed properly, BIAB helps protect your natural nails. Damage usually comes from peeling it off or harsh removal, which is why we always remove it professionally.

Can I have infills instead of a full removal?

+

Yes. Infills keep a strong base in place, so your nails keep growing rather than starting again each time.

Can BIAB help me stop biting my nails?

+

Many people find the hard, glossy finish makes them much less tempting to bite – and it's lovely to watch them grow.
