Why choose our Swedish massage in Sheffield?

Luxury (85 mins) – our longest massage, with time to work through every area properly and plenty of time to completely unwind. The perfect treat when an hour just isn't enough.

Swedish massage is the classic relaxing massage. Your therapist uses long, gentle, flowing strokes, kneading and soft circular movements to warm the muscles, ease away tightness and get your circulation going. It's not about pressure for the sake of it – it's about letting your whole body (and your busy mind) finally let go.

Many clients book it when they're feeling run-down, stressed or stiff from sitting at a desk all week, and tell us they sleep beautifully afterwards. If you've never had a massage before, this is a lovely place to start.

What happens during your Swedish massage

  1. Welcome and a quick chat. We'll ask where you're holding tension, how much pressure you like and whether there's anything we should know about, such as injuries or pregnancy.
  2. Settling in. You'll undress to your underwear and lie on a warm, comfy couch, covered with soft towels – only the area being massaged is ever uncovered.
  3. Your massage. Your therapist works with warmed massage oil using long, flowing strokes, adjusting the pressure as you go. Just say if you'd like more or less.
  4. Time to come round. There's no rush to jump up. Take a moment, sit up slowly, and we'll bring you a glass of water.
  5. Aftercare. We'll suggest a few simple things to keep that relaxed feeling going.

Full body, upper body or back?

  • Full body – back, shoulders, arms, legs and feet. The ultimate unwind.
  • Upper body – back, neck, shoulders and arms. Lovely if tension lives in your top half.
  • Back – back, neck and shoulders. Perfect when time is short, or on a lunch break.

If you'd prefer firmer pressure to work out stubborn knots, try our deep tissue massage. If you love warmth, our hot stone massage is intensely relaxing. Not sure? Have a look at all our full body massage options.

Before and after your visit

Try not to eat a heavy meal just before your massage, and arrive a few minutes early so you can park and settle in calmly. Afterwards, drink plenty of water, take it easy if you can, and maybe save the gym for tomorrow. A warm bath that evening is a lovely way to keep the feeling going.

Good to know

Your questions, answered

How long does a Swedish massage take?

+

Allow a few extra minutes for a quick chat beforehand and time to come round afterwards.

Does Swedish massage hurt?

+

No – it's a gentle to medium-pressure massage designed to relax you. Your therapist will check the pressure with you, and you can ask for lighter or firmer at any time.

How often should I have a Swedish massage?

+

It's up to you. Some clients come once a month to keep stress in check; others save it for a treat. If you're very tense, a couple of sessions a few weeks apart can really help.

What's the difference between Swedish and deep tissue massage?

+

Swedish massage uses flowing, lighter strokes to relax the whole body. Deep tissue uses firmer pressure and trigger-point therapy to work into specific knots. Both are available as full body, upper body or back.

Can I have a Swedish massage if I'm pregnant?

+

Please book our maternity massage instead – it uses a heated couch and supportive cushions designed for pregnancy.

Can I buy a Swedish massage as a gift?

+

Yes – our eGift vouchers arrive by email in seconds and can be used to book online.
